Contemporary Indian Dining

Food is a theatre with kitchen as its stage. This collection considers the dining culture of contemporary India, where cooking is a performance, serving a presentation of skills and dining a celebration of food.

Kitchens are no longer restricted to just cooking but act as catalysts in bringing the family together. In today’s fast-paced life, having time to enjoy meals with family, as traditionally practiced in Indian culture, is in itself a luxury. Targeting the luxury market in India, these designs bring an Indian appeal in their architectural form and choice of materials. Moving away from typical modular kitchen arrangements, the designs incorporate cooking facilities, serving counters with salad and wine bars and a flexible dining space.

Food and architecture share a history, providing glimpses of culture and place. Inspired by Indian architecture and traditional materials of wood, brass and copper; these designs with their strong contours are targeted at cognoscenti Indians today. This collection offers contemporary Indian design to the homes of the urban elite, acknowledging the values and rich history interwoven through food, family and architecture.
